Biobject is a French company specialising in the design, production and distribution of contemporary furniture, textiles and carpets, with over 50 years of experience. Founded in 1970 by Jean-Pierre Mesmin, the company has dedicated itself to the development of materials that combine tradition and modernity.
In the 1980s, Biobject began to expand internationally, integrating different cultures and expertise in the furniture industry. The company introduced new shapes, designs and materials, offering French customers a collection of objects and furniture with an ‘ethnic-chic’ style. This quest for innovation has become the core of the company's business. In 2008, Benoît Marotte took over the leadership of the company, transforming it into a creation and design laboratory. Biobject focused on high-quality and original materials, such as wood veneer, solid wood, concrete cladding, stainless steel wire and aluminium casting.
In 2016, Biobject created a distribution division for soft materials, offering Naturtex decorative weaves, high-performance fabrics, Garrett Leather products and a selection of carpets and abaca fabrics. In 2020, Romain Rougier took over the management of the company, steering it towards the luxury industry while maintaining a commitment to environmental sustainability. With designers, materials experts and a research department, Biobject provides tailor-made designs and customised advice. The company collaborates with a network of talented workshops and craftsmen to develop projects, from prototyping to logistics. With over 50 years of experience, Biobject realises high-level productions, combining unique craftsmanship skills.
Products are assembled and completed in Biobject's laboratory in Île-de-France, with a logistics organisation compatible with selective retailing and large-scale distribution, both in France and abroad. By collaborating with international material manufacturers, Biobject offers access to exclusive products, guaranteeing the uniqueness and prestige of interior and exterior design projects. The company chooses to collaborate with local, French and European workshops, using natural materials and producing limited series. Biobject extends the life cycle of its products, controlling the entire value chain and offering repair services thanks to its own finishing workshop. Biobject also improves the environmental responsibility of its solutions by researching recycled materials and end-of-life options for furniture and objects.
