Designtech Originals – A Playlist of Evolving Design
Designtech Originals stems from Designtech's vision as an ecosystem where creativity, digital manufacturing, and sustainability converge to create new design scenarios. Not only a support platform for companies, designers, and startups in developing innovative products, but Designtech also acts as a design publisher, involving its community in creating a native digital and sustainable collection. Like a playlist, Designtech Originals is an open and growing project fueled by new contributions from designers and startups within the ecosystem. It's a laboratory where creativity, digital fabrication, and sustainable innovation intertwine to generate a new generation of products. The collection opens with Hituals, curated by the Brazilian studio Furf along with French designer Ambroise Maggiar and 3D printing experts from Puntozero3D. Poetic and functional, the collection is made from PETG reinforced with fiberglass, an ultra-resistant 3D printed material ideal for indoor and outdoor use due to its durability and low environmental impact. Inspired by the harmony of natural forms – from flowers to beehives, to the human body – Hituals explores the potential of generative design and additive manufacturing, maintaining a strong connection with craftsmanship, biomimetics, and the elegance of Made in Italy. Thanks to the 3D printing process, material consumption is minimized, and the product is designed for decentralized, local, and zero-kilometer production in CoFactory hubs, reducing logistical impact. Designtech thus redefines the future of design by combining technology, aesthetics, and functionality into sustainable, innovative, and globally impactful products.
