Kioo is an Italian brand of
outdoor kitchens designed to guarantee durability, functionality and style. Kioo is an African dialect word meaning ‘mirror’. In a modern and more contemporary context, the symbolic word ‘kioo’ evokes the idea of reflection or, rather, introspection (like a mirror, but with a more digital or conceptual touch). It aims to be something that evokes the theme of vision, perception, or “looking” in a new way, almost like an invitation to look beyond the surface, as one does with new technologies or emerging trends. Kioo as an acronym for “Kitchen Over Outdoor” certainly has a strong and modern impact. It is associated with the quality and design of an outdoor kitchen that goes “beyond” expectations. It is a very effective way of emphasising not only functionality, but also aesthetics and the choice of a product that expresses personality and style.

The History of the Brand: it is an engaging and real story that tells how Kioo was born from the idea of wanting to bring an outdoor kitchen that not only withstands the elements, but also becomes the heart of any outdoor space. A kitchen that is not limited to “being” outside, but that “goes beyond” the ordinary, just as the name suggests. It was born during the 2020 lockdown, when the obligation to stay at home laid bare the capabilities of one person: the founding partner. It was at that moment that he decided to react with what he had at his disposal. In this scenario, he began to shape his idea of an outdoor kitchen, using the few elements he found in his garage, without forgetting the three criteria he considered fundamental:
- a design that combines aesthetics and functionality;
- a product suitable for outdoor use;
- a simplicity that fully reflects his personality.
Kioo, the new outdoor kitchen that changes the outdoor space
The founder of Kioo first considered the outdoor kitchen as the centre of a circle around which one could move; he then placed an old ironing board (or what was left of it) on top of two iron trestles; and finally, he placed the gas stove he had from a camping experience in his youth on top of the board.
At the end of the board, he then created a circular hole where he fixed his son's beach bucket underneath, where he would drain the water through a pipe.
He had created his outdoor kitchen in a corner where, despite the limitations imposed by lockdown, the space seemed to have no boundaries. That improvised place became more and more of a refuge every day, a space for sharing with the family, where they could rediscover the pleasure of the little things.
He had created an “over” lifestyle, above the restrictions, beyond the limits imposed by that historical moment. It was a choice that was not just about cooking outdoors, but about living differently, with creativity, freedom and authenticity.
