Strato is an Italian company founded in 1987 by Gianna Farina and Marco Gorini, active in the design and production of made-to-measure high-end
kitchens and
furniture. The company does not produce catalogue or series collections: every kitchen, furniture element or sculptural work is a unique piece, developed entirely according to the specifications of the individual project.
The design of each element is handled directly by Strato, which personally oversees material selection and the entire production process, from conception to final installation. The number of projects undertaken each year is deliberately limited, to allow a level of control and detail not compatible with large-scale production.
Materials used include marble, natural stone and fossil wood of non-standardised sourcing, alongside a range of metals such as titanium, copper, brass and various types of steel. Selection takes place for each individual project and may include rare materials or materials available in limited quantities. Processes are largely manual and carried out by specialised artisan labour, with production time dedicated exclusively to each commission.
For over thirty years the company has employed a proprietary production technique, distinctive relative to industry standards, which allows different materials to be combined within the same element, eliminating both the visual and tactile perceptibility of joints. This technique requires specific technical expertise and entirely manual execution.
Every project is developed to measure, based on the characteristics of the space it is intended for and the requirements of the client or the appointed architecture firm, with the possibility of modifications during production up to the final stages.
Strato personally follows every project worldwide, without relying on intermediary sales networks. To date, the company has completed projects in over twenty-five countries for a selected international clientele, comprising private clients and high-profile architecture firms, following each commission directly from design through to final installation.
The company has remained family-owned since its founding, and has never pursued the industrialization of production, maintaining a deliberately small-scale, artisanal operating model.
